Bugs in her throat

When Ali had a cavity not to long ago the dentist told her there were bugs on her teeth and he had to get them out (his words for cavity and filling). Ever since then that's how we describe sickness in our house. So, Ali has bugs in her throat this time, aka strep....for the 2nd time in 2 months. So our conversation on the way home from the Dr. went something like this.....

"Ali, you have bugs in your throat so we are going to go get some medicine to get them out, ok?"

"These spiders really hurt mom." (to her, spiders and bugs are all in one category! :))

"I know sweetie."

"I think they must be building a web."

I was cracking up but trying not to show it. Then we pull into the pharmacy.

"Mom, I don't want any pink gum."

"Pink gum? I don't know what you mean hon."

"Don't make me take pink gum mom, I don't like it!"

"Ok- you don't have to have pink gum." And then the light goes on in my head. "You mean you don't like the pink bubblegum medicine (amoxicillian) you had last time?"

"Yeah, I don't like that!"

"I know you don't like it sweetie but that's the medicine you are going to have to take again to get the bugs out."

Ali let out a large groan but there was no further complaining. I think her throat hurt so bad it wasn't worth the fight to try to get out of taking the medicine!

So cute

My sister Danielle got 2 new puppies Saturday (the day after she got back from Haiti!). Their names are Brenner and Sanka and they are adorable little fur balls that my children absolutely love! Ali was very worried that they will be to cold outside. Dakota acts very brave about playing with them until they get to close and then he scampers back to a safe distance.

Weighed Down

This is the tree in our front yard during a normal winter day.... This is the tree after a bad ice storm we had not long ago. It was hanging so low it nearly covered our entire driveway.
